Sorana Cîrstea, Gabriela Ruse, and Jaqueline Cristian found out their opponents for the first round of the women’s singles event at Roland-Garros on Thursday.
The three Romanian players are on the same half of the draw, and two of them could potentially face each other in the third round.
Sorana Cîrstea, ranked 18th in the WTA, will start against the French player Ksenia Efremova, who is currently ranked 625th in the world.
Gabriela Ruse, ranked 75th in the WTA, will meet Polish player Magdalena Frech, who is ranked 49th globally, while Jaqueline Cristian, ranked 33rd in the WTA, will play in the first round against Kamilla Rakhimova from Uzbekistan, who is ranked 85th in the world rankings.
If they advance past the first two rounds, Ruse and Cristian could potentially face each other for a spot in the tournament's round of 16.
The top seed of the tournament, Arina Sabalenka, will begin her campaign against Spain's Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, ranked 51st in the WTA.
The second seed, Elena Rybakina, will face Slovenia's Veronika Erjavec, who is currently ranked 84th in the world, in the opening round.
