A football player declined the call-up to the Romanian national team, even though Mircea Lucescu personally asked him to reconsider.
Central midfielder Daniel Boloca (25 years old) was wanted by Lucescu for the national team, and the coach went to Italy to have a discussion with him.
The Serie B player talked with Lucescu for three hours, but did not want to join the Romanian national team, according to Fanatik.
"I highly appreciate you, Mr. Lucescu, I am one of your great admirers and of your career, but I have clearly stated that I will not play for the Romanian national team and I cannot break my word," was Boloca's message.
He still dreams of the Italian national team, so he does not wish to play for the Romanian national team anymore.
Raised in the youth ranks of Juventus Turin, Boloca played only one match for the Romanian national team, against Slovenia, in November 2022.
"I made a mistake when I agreed to represent Romania. I was confused. I didn't know what was next for me," Boloca said a few months ago.
