NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, was asked on Tuesday about the prospect of Romania having an anti-NATO president.
The head of NATO was questioned by a journalist from the Republic of Moldova, at a press briefing before the meeting of the Foreign Ministers in Brussels, about the impact on the alliance and how great the risks are for Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine if the presidential elections are won by Călin Georgescu.
"Of course, I cannot comment on the national elections in allied countries. We respect any outcome, and in Romania, the second round still needs to take place," Mark Rutte emphasized.
"I will not comment on national elections, but my experience is that all 32 allies are very involved in NATO, dedicated to NATO, and its success," he added.
"Yes, of course, there are always debates - this is a democratic alliance. Its strength is that, thanks to democracy, we achieve better results and ultimately better decisions, more prosperity, and better deterrence," highlighted the NATO chief.
