Simion avoids confrontation: He leaves the country in the midst of an electoral debate marathon

George Simion, the AUR candidate in the presidential elections, left the country just a week before the second round of the presidential elections, when a series of electoral debates are announced.

His departure was communicated during a public intervention at the Chamber of Commerce, where he delivered a speech criticizing foreign investors and stating that they „have the protection of embassies.”

Simion's decision raises questions about his presence in the upcoming direct confrontations with his opponent Nicușor Dan.

Already Absent from a Debate

On Monday evening, George Simion declined the invitation from Digi24 channel, where a debate between the main presidential candidates was scheduled. On Tuesday, although he had initially confirmed his participation in a debate organized by Antena3 at 8:00 PM, Simion announced that he would also be absent from there.

Instead, he attended the event at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he was present in the absence of Nicușor Dan, who did not show up.

Official Reason: Meetings with "Heads of State"

In front of the audience at the Chamber of Commerce, Simion stated that he was leaving for "an important meeting with a head of state," without providing details.

Later, he mentioned that he was going to have dinner with Mateusz Morawiecki, former Prime Minister of Poland, suggesting that he has international commitments.

Simion seems to be avoiding direct confrontations with Nicușor Dan at a time when the electorate is demanding more clarity and accountability from the candidates.

Although several debates were announced for this week, including one hosted on Wednesday by comedian Cosmin Nedelcu (Micutzu), there is no official confirmation that the AUR leader will be present.

If the trend continues, it is possible that the presidential elections will take place without any real debates between the two finalists in the last week.
