PNL leadership shuts down possibility of PSD coalition

In the Tuesday afternoon meeting, the leadership of PNL quickly voted on a resolution proposed by Ilie Bolojan reaffirming the decision not to form any alliance with PSD for a new government.

PNL Deputy Robert Sighiartău made the official announcement.

''PNL has voted again. With a large majority, they maintain the decision for PNL not to form an alliance with PSD,'' he wrote on Facebook.

34 in favor, 10 abstentions, 0 against, would be the voting result according to G4Media sources.

The PNL leadership met in this session to determine the party's direction after the Bolojan Government was ousted by the PSD - AUR censure motion.

After the voting results were announced, PSD President Sorin Grindeanu stated that it would be normal for Ilie Bolojan to resign at this moment, even though legally he would remain interim, because we are talking about an overwhelming vote. Grindeanu specified that PSD will not support minority governments.

Several key voices within PNL (including the first vice-presidents Nicoleta Pauliuc, Adrian Veştea, and Cătălin Predoiu) have called for remaining in government coalitions with PSD, but abstained from voting.
