Nicușor Dan held a brief press statement at Cotroceni after Parliament dismissed the Bolojan Government.

The President appealed for calm, reading from a sheet, emphasizing that Romania remains a stable state where institutions function.

The head of state acknowledged that it is "not a happy moment in a democracy," but insisted that there is a clear consensus among pro-Western parties regarding the country's major directions, including joining the OECD, respecting budget targets, and continuing European programs.

Nicușor Dan announced that political negotiations will start immediately, first through informal consultations, before the formal ones required by the Constitution and which are mandatory with all parties. Therefore, it is possible that the head of state will first begin discussions with the parties from the former coalition, and AUR may be excluded from the first round of consultations.

The head of state assured that a new pro-Western government will be formed within a reasonable timeframe and categorically ruled out the possibility of early elections.

His final message was: We will get through this calmly!

The no-confidence motion filed by PSD, AUR, and PACE – First Romania was adopted with 281 "for" votes, well above the necessary threshold of 233. Out of the 431 present parliamentarians, 288 voted, with 4 votes against and 3 annulled.

After the vote, the leader of PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, stated that the Prime Minister should resign, citing the extent of support for the motion, and ruled out support for minority governments. Meanwhile, political parties are preparing for consultations at Cotroceni.
