The President of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, stated on Wednesday that he submitted his candidacy for the fourth time in the presidential elections, but not because he hopes for a different outcome than in the previous rounds of voting.
„I have submitted the signature lists for the parliamentary elections and the signature lists for the presidential elections and the list for the Diaspora. The other lists will be submitted in due time, in the counties. First of all, I want to thank those who supported our list for the parliamentary elections and those who supported my candidacy for the presidential elections, for our colleagues who were in the field and collected these signatures, worked very intensively in these two to three weeks,” Kelemen Hunor declared on Wednesday after submitting the candidacies.
The leader of UDMR talked about his decision to run, stating that he does not want people to think he is a player in the lottery.
"In the presidential elections, for the 4th time, I submit the signatures and candidacy. Do not think that I am a lottery player who returns each time and believes that, at some point, luck will be on his side.
It's not about personal gain here, I am running to speak the truth and to show what the real problems of Romania are today, for Romanians, Hungarians, and other ethnicities. Ethnicity doesn't matter here, because the issues are valid for each of us," he said.
Kelemen Hunor added that he wants to show "why people are angry, why they are dissatisfied with the state, why Iohannis is right when he talks about the failed state and what are the solutions to solve this enormous problem that means lack of hope, lack of trust, and of course, the demographic problems we are facing."
"To show why people are angry, why they feel oppressed by the state, by state institutions, why they are humiliated, and of course, to present a vision and a path that we can walk together in the presidential elections," Kelemen Hunor further stated.
He pointed out that in the first round, everyone can vote according to their conscience, having the freedom to choose.
"In the first round, there is indeed the possibility, the freedom to choose the right solution. And I ask you to support me in the presidential elections," Kelemen Hunor also stated.
