The president of AUR, George Simion, sent a dangerous message while the protest of candidate Călin Georgescu’s supporters was taking place in the Old Town Bucharest last night.
Simion calls the decision of the BEC a „coup” and says that those who „committed it,” namely the members of the BEC, „should be publicly skinned alive.”
Simion posted a video message on Facebook saying that "there is nothing wrong with Călin Georgescu's candidacy file."
"The file is perfectly fine, including your signatures. People from the central electoral office confirm it. They did not vote based on evidence, they voted according to conscience, including the judges, meaning they did not consider the entire file complete.
They assessed and had received orders from where they received them, that they must reject the candidacy. Let no one be happy to inform me or other candidates. What needs to be done next is to look at Călin Georgescu and see what he says. He is the man voted by Romanians," said George Simion.
He says he does not distance himself from the protesters, apologizing that he comes from Cluj and that is why he is not with the supporters of Călin Georgescu at the protest in front of the BEC.
"This is a coup. We are living in a dictatorship. We cannot accept this. I am on my way from Cluj now and I ask all of you, that's why I said earlier how angry people are, I can no longer take responsibility for anything, because those who committed the coup should be publicly skinned alive for what they did. Playing games with democracy like this. Whether you like Călin Georgescu or not? He is the man voted by Romanians," said the president of AUR in the video message on Facebook.
Simion said we have to wait to see what Călin Georgescu will say during Monday.
"Călin Georgescu must be supported to the end! Șoșoacă, Ponta, and other media jackals should not rejoice!!" added Simion in the post.
Călin Georgescu has 24 hours to contest the decision.
