The Presidential Administration reacted on tuesday to the information that appeared in the press yesterday regarding RA-APPS renovating with millions of euros a villa in an exclusive area of the capital, which will become the residence of the Iohannis family after the head of state completes his term.
A statement from Cotroceni claims that there is no request from the president for the allocation of an official residence.
"There is no request from the president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, or the Presidential Administration for the allocation of a protocol residence and a space for the organization of the work cabinet, both with the destination of residence, after the termination of the mandate of the president of Romania, in accordance with the provisions Law no. 406/2001 regarding the granting of certain rights to persons who held the position of head of the Romanian state, with subsequent amendments and additions," transmitted the Presidential Administration, at the request of Agerpres.
Journalists sought to learn on Tuesday from Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu what he knows about the multimillion-euro investment of public funds made by RA-APPS to renovate a villa in Aviatorilor.
Ciolacu claims he learned about the renovation works from the press and promises to inquire at the General Secretariat of the Government, which supervises RA-APPS.
On the other hand, USR has published the colossal incomes enjoyed by the heads of this state-owned agency and has made a request for documents to see exactly how much money and how it is spent on renovating the palace in Bucharest.
The former headquarters of PNL and ALDE on Bd. Aviatorilor 86, located in one of the exclusive areas of the capital, is about to be transformed into an "individual residence." The works are carried out in strict secrecy. And the amount that RA-APPS intends to invest here exceeds any imagination: 7 million euros just for renovation and arrangement (according to Recorder) or even 9 million euros (according to G4Media)."
