The candidate of the ruling Romanian coalition in the presidential elections, Crin Antonescu, came to vote on Sunday morning, accompanied by his wife (Adina Vălean) and his daughter, at a school in Bucharest.
After exiting the polling station, he stated that he voted for a united, strong, and dignified Romania and appreciated the high voter turnout, which will provide legitimacy to the elections and moral strength to the new president.

„It’s a very beautiful day, but it’s a very important day. I am glad that based on the initial indications, we have such a massive presence both in the diaspora and on the national territory, perhaps a record presence.
This is an extraordinarily important thing for the legitimacy of these elections, for the moral strength of the future president. I am glad that Romanians are going out to vote, I hope they will do so throughout the day. I voted for a united Romania, for a strong Romania, for a dignified Romania," he said.
Asked if it was a tough campaign, Antonescu replied that it was rather long: "I'm not referring strictly to those 30 calendar days, but to the entire history and all the psychological burden."

Antonescu spoke in English with foreign journalists who asked him about the divisions in society. He says it will be the future president's task to unite Romanians after the social trauma of the canceled elections. You can watch the dialogue in the video below, at minute 2.30.
Crin Antonescu's daughter, Irina, said she voted for a better future for young people. "If my father wins, of course, I will return (to the country)," said Irina, who is studying abroad.
"You are not allowed to do propaganda," Antonescu replied.
