U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Chancellor Friedrich Merz for Germany not considering the war against Iran to be its issue.
The American leader commented on Merz’s position, especially his statement that „this is not our war.”
"So when I heard the leader of Germany saying 'this is not our war' about Iran, I said, 'Well, Ukraine is not our war, we helped, but Ukraine is not our war'.
I said, 'Well, you know, Ukraine is not our war, and it isn't, but I would like to see all those young people stop being killed, because they are being killed'," Trump declared during an open government meeting, cited by European Pravda.
The White House chief reiterated that there is "immense hatred" between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
At the same time, Trump maintained that the U.S. has a chance to end the war, even if it does not "directly affect" America.
"And I think things calm down a bit and I think we have a chance to resolve the situation. But it doesn't affect us because we are thousands of kilometers away," emphasized the American president.
Trump also commented on reports in the press regarding the possibility of redirecting American arms destined for Ukraine to the Middle East, stating that the United States regularly makes such adjustments.
Furthermore, the media reported that Russia had proposed an agreement to the U.S. in which the Kremlin would cease providing information to Iran – including precise coordinates of American military bases in the Middle East – in exchange for Washington halting the informational support provided to Ukraine. According to sources, the U.S. rejected this proposal.
Previously, Donald Trump avoided answering journalists' questions about a possible support of Iran by Russia, dismissing these questions as "stupid."
