An influencer on TikTok, followed by over 383,000 people and famous for his videos helping elderly and people in need, is now accused of fraud after allegedly posting fake accommodation ads and deceiving over 100 individuals.
The young man targeted in the investigation is Cristian Cârnu, 25 years old, from Târgoviște, known on TikTok as @carnu_cristian1. In his videos, he was often seen providing food and assistance to pensioners or vulnerable individuals.
According to the Dâmbovița County Police Inspectorate, on Thursday morning, police conducted five searches in Dragomirești commune in a case involving fraud, computer forgery, and false identity.
Investigators claim that, between August 2024 and January 2025, the influencer would have posted false accommodation rental ads and convinced over 100 people to send money in advance. The total estimated damage exceeds 103,000 lei.
According to the police, the amounts were transferred to bank accounts fraudulently opened using the identity of individuals with precarious financial situations.
Following the searches, investigators seized multiple mobile phones, bank cards, and documents.
"This morning, May 7th, police officers from the Târgoviște City Police - Târgoviște Rural Police Section 1, under the coordination of a prosecutor from the Târgoviște Court Prosecutor's Office, carried out 5 search warrants," announced the Dâmbovița County Police Inspectorate.
The investigations are ongoing under the coordination of the case prosecutor.
