Robert Florin Nica’s son, former leader of the Sportivilor clan, was judged for attempted murder by the Prahova Tribunal after attacking a man with a machete during a party.
The court decided to impose only an educational measure on him, which does not lead to imprisonment. The decision is not final.
His father, the former leader of the Sportivilor clan, is currently incarcerated.
Educational Measure, Not Imprisonment
The Prahova Tribunal established for Robert Andrei Nica the measure of daily assistance for a period of six months. During this time, the young man is required to attend a school or professional training course and to periodically report to the Probation Service.
According to the decision: "the defendant is required, during the execution of the non-deprivation educational measure, to attend a school or professional training course and to report to the probation service on the dates set by it."
The court partially accepted the civil action filed by the victim, obliging the defendant and his parents to pay 20,000 euros as moral damages.
Machete Attack
The assault took place on January 22, 2022, at a party held in a building owned by the victim's family in Bușteni. The night before, the guests had consumed alcohol, and on the day of the incident, the host asked the defendant to leave, citing his disruptive behavior. The reaction was violent.
"The injured person (...) asked the defendant to leave, considering that the guests were disturbed by the music chosen by him, his attitude (...) and the fact that he behaved verbally aggressively, being under the influence of alcohol," the indictment states.
After a brief dispute, the defendant, who was 17 years old at the time, felt "humiliated," left the room, and returned with a machete. He first hit a table, then another guest in the face. When the host intervened to separate them, he was attacked.
"The injured person intervened between the two (...), but the defendant hit him with the machete in the head area, addressing him with vulgar words and expressions, after which he left the building," the indictment further states.
The victim was urgently transported to the hospital. The case was legally classified as attempted murder.
