A wave of tropical air is coming over Romania and we will have the warmest end of March in the last 70 years.

Temperatures will reach up to 29 degrees Celcius in some areas over the weekend, stated the head of National Weather Service, Elena Mateescu, on Antena3 TV.

"From a thermal point of view, we are talking about an exceptionally warm weather. Today, we will certainly reach the threshold of a summer day, with 25 degrees Celsius. The last days of March will bring temperatures that could approach 28, even 29 degrees.

We will surely reach records of daily minimum and maximum values, as we have already recorded this morning, at 20 meteorological stations, the highest minimum temperatures for March 29th", said the head of ANM.

But this heatwave could negatively impact agriculture.

"I fear that this very high warming will definitely make all the trees, all nature bloom, and unfortunately, in April, we can definitely still have periods with sudden and very low temperatures that can, unfortunately, once again, affect agriculture," said meteorologist Mihai Timu, for Euronews.
