Masked Passenger Sparks Panic on German High-Speed Train

A major incident occurred on Thursday evening at the Siegburg-Bonn train station in Germany, after a masked young man threatened passengers on a high-speed train traveling between Brussels and Frankfurt.

According to information provided by German authorities and witnesses, the man threw a pressurized airsoft grenade in the train corridor, which exploded, causing smoke and small plastic projectiles.

Several people suffered minor injuries due to the plastic balls from the airsoft grenade, and one of the victims was taken to the hospital for a possible hearing injury caused by the explosion.

The attacker was armed with a large knife and threatened to kill several people, as reported by Bild.

However, passengers reacted quickly and managed to push the young man into a toilet, where he remained trapped until the police arrived.

Approximately 180 passengers were evacuated from the train.

Police teams, including four dogs and two explosives experts with special equipment, checked the entire train to ensure there were no other dangerous objects.

Authorities also temporarily closed the area around the station and provided transportation for passengers to Frankfurt by bus.

The suspect, a 20-year-old from Aachen, is now in police custody.

In his backpack, along with the knife, a second airsoft grenade and two legal smoke grenades were found, as well as a mask.

Prosecutors are now accusing him of bodily harm and violating explosives and weapons legislation.

Train services resumed only after midnight, following the completion of checks.
