Reinforcement work begins on the building damaged by the Rahova explosion

The Sector 5 City Hall issued the construction permit for the safety and consolidation works of the building on Vicina Street, in the Rahova neighborhood, severely affected by the explosion that occurred on October 17. Following the blast, three people lost their lives, and another 15 were injured.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by the local administration, the technical documentation was urgently analyzed by the specialized team of the Sector 5 Mayor’s Office. Nearly five months after the devastating explosion, authorities claim that the approval process was prioritized so that interventions on the building could start as quickly as possible.

The works aim to reinforce the structural elements affected by the explosion, stabilize the building, and eliminate any danger for residents or passersby in the area.

The permit was issued urgently, considering the "critical nature of the situation" and the need to restore, as much as possible, safety conditions for the affected residences.

The Sector 5 Mayor, Vlad Popescu Piedone, stated that the local administration tried to eliminate any bureaucratic obstacles to speed up the intervention on the building.

"We understand the ordeal the families in this building are going through, and we have asked all departments in the city hall to eliminate any unnecessary bureaucracy. Securing the building is the essential first step to allow residents to return to normalcy in complete safety. We stand by them and will continue to provide the necessary support throughout the entire rehabilitation process," the mayor declared.
