Helmuth Duckadam, the legendary goalkeeper of Steaua Bucharest, winner of the European Cup, has passed away at the age of 65.
The announcement of Duckadam’s death was made by Marcel Pușcaș, through a message on his Facebook page.
Duckadam, the only Romanian in the Guinness Book of Records, who saved four penalty kicks in the final of the European Cup (0-0, 2-0 after penalties), has faced several health issues in recent years.
Recently, about two months ago, Duckadam underwent open-heart surgery.
"One of my good friends has passed away. A very talented former football player. The only Romanian in the Guinness Book. Helmut Duckadam has left us at only 65 years old. You left too soon, Helmuth! May God rest your soul! Rest in peace!", announced Marcel Pușcaș in a short video clip posted on Facebook.
Following Pușcaș's announcement, the death of Duckadam was confirmed by several sources.
