The Turkish manufacturer Otokar and Romtehnica company have signed a multi-year contract worth 4.26 billion lei (approximately 857 million euros without VAT) for the supply of 1,059 armored tactical 4×4 vehicles of the COBRA II light type to the Ministry of Defense.
According to the contract, most of the COBRA II 4×4 vehicles will be manufactured in Romania, the company announces.
The first 278 armored tactical 4x4 vehicles of the COBRA II light type will be produced in Turkey, while the remaining 781 will be manufactured in Romania.
Deliveries will be made in several batches over five years, starting from the last quarter of 2025.
The contract also includes some integrated logistic support services, in addition to the 1,059 vehicles.
The armored tactical 4x4 vehicle produced by Otokar is actively used by over 20 users from 13 countries.
COBRA II is designed as a modular platform that can be developed for various mission requirements, being produced in over 30 different versions.
The vehicle offers high protection against ballistic threats, mines, and improvised explosive devices, and is suitable for integrating a wide range of weapon options and mission equipment.
