Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck filed for divorce after two years of marriage.
According to Variety magazine, Lopez filed the request on Tuesday at the Superior Court in Los Angeles County. The official date of separation is stated as April 26.
Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, began a relationship in the early 2000s, which tabloids dubbed "Bennifer" at the time. The two got married in Las Vegas in July 2022, after rekindling their relationship from two decades ago.
"Love is beautiful. Love is good. And it seems love is patient. Twenty years of patience," Lopez wrote when announcing their first, quick wedding in Las Vegas, signing as Jennifer Lynn Affleck.
After the Las Vegas wedding, the two got married again in a lavish ceremony in Georgia on August 20, 2022 - exactly two years ago.
The dissolution of their marriage followed reports that the two were not getting along and were living separately.
The two sold their Beverly Hills home, and in May, Lopez announced on her website that she was "heartbroken and devastated" about canceling her summer tour "This Is Me… Live."
"Please know that I would not do this if I did not feel it was absolutely necessary," she said, promising fans that they will be "together again."
The tour was set to be her first in five years, following her first solo album in a decade, "This Is Me… Now."
Lopez and Affleck first met in 2001 on the set of the movie "Gigli," where they played roles of criminals. Their real-life friendship eventually turned into a relationship that caused a media frenzy, with paparazzi dubbing them "Bennifer."
By November 2002, they were engaged, but their relationship faded as quickly as it began. Their September 2003 wedding was postponed, and the couple officially split four months later.
Both stars moved on to other relationships, with Lopez marrying singer Marc Anthony in 2004 and Affleck tying the knot with actress Jennifer Garner in 2005.
J Lo separated from Anthony in 2011, while Affleck and Garner announced their separation in 2015.
In April 2021, fans rejoiced when the two were seen out together in Los Angeles. Lopez and Affleck got engaged a year later.
