A woman from Thailand lost one million baht (almost 26,000 euros) after termites invaded the safe in her home and destroyed the cash savings she had stored.
The woman, known on social media as Nanny Irin, recounted that she opened the safe convinced that the money was safe. Instead of stacks of banknotes, she found hundreds of live and dead termites, and a large portion of the money had been turned into dust, as reported by Marie France.
The images she shared show banknotes almost entirely eaten away, while others were only partially destroyed.
The woman had one million baht in the safe, equivalent to approximately 26,000 euros, money set aside for the mortgage payment. She explained that the safe was opened periodically to withdraw sums needed for the installments and that the last check had been made less than a month before.
