The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) has discovered improperly stored food, products without labels, and stalls without displayed prices at the Christmas fairs organized during this period.
After inspecting over 220 traders, inspectors imposed, between December 2-5, 48 fines totaling approximately 198,000 lei, and issued 109 warnings.
ANPC has removed from sale products deemed non-compliant worth over 52,000 lei, and the activity of one business operator has been temporarily suspended until the deficiencies are remedied.
Among the most common irregularities are:
- improper storage and handling of products,
- lack of price display and essential information for consumers,
- absence of data on allergenic substances,
- use of non-verified metrological measuring devices,
- marketing of food products without identification elements.
Inspectors also found products and raw materials without labels allowing traceability, incomplete or non-existent information in Romanian, failure to mention promotional periods, and absence of graphics regarding the change of oil used in product preparation.
