PNL, UDMR, and USR validated their proposals for ministers on Friday, and the designated Prime Minister, Siegfried Mureșan, then presented the complete list of the Cabinet he wants to take before Parliament.
The three parties divided the ministries as follows: PNL has seven portfolios, USR five, and UDMR three. Each party has a vice prime minister on the list presented by Mureșan.
Who PNL proposes
PNL approved in the National Political Bureau meeting of the Party the governance program and the ministerial proposals supported by the party for the future cabinet.
The PNL spokesperson, Ionel Bogdan, stated that the governance program proposed by Siegfried Mureșan was adopted unanimously.
He also presented the list of Liberals proposed to be part of the future Cabinet.
- Mircea Abrudean - vice prime minister and Minister of Internal Affairs;
- Alexandru Nazare - Minister of Finance;
- Andreea Chiș - Minister of Justice;
- Raluca Turcan - Minister of Labor, Family, Youth, and Social Solidarity;
- Oana Gheorghiu - Minister of Health;
- Dragoș Pîslaru - Minister of Investments and European Projects;
- Mihai Dimian - Minister of Education and Research;
- Sebastian Burduja - Minister of Energy.
"These are the ministers supported by the National Liberal Party. This is the team that we believe can do their job best in the ministries they will lead. We hope that this Cabinet will be approved by Parliament, and starting next week, we will enter a normal situation," stated Ionel Bogdan.
He emphasized that an independent person, approved by all three parties, namely Andreea Chiș, is supported for the Ministry of Justice.
Who UDMR proposes
UDMR also officially announced its ministerial proposals for the Mureșan Government. These are:
- Ötvös Koppány, Minister of Culture
- Attila Cseke, Minister of Development
- Tanczos Barna, Minister of Agriculture and vice prime minister
Who USR proposes
The Political Committee of USR approved the party's entry into the Mureșan Government, the governance program, and the proposed list of ministers. Four of the current ministers are expected to retain their portfolios. Cătălin Drulă is proposed for Transport.
The list approved by USR:
- Radu Miruță, vice prime minister and Minister of National Defense
- Diana Buzoianu, Minister of Environment
- Oana Țoiu, Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Cătălin Drulă, Minister of Transport
- Irineu Darău, Minister of Economy
USR also voted to support former judge Andrea Chiș for the Ministry of Justice.
"USR ministers have delivered reforms that Romania has been waiting for years, and today's vote reaffirms their mandate," stated the party's president, Dominic Fritz.
Three vice prime ministers in the proposed Cabinet
The designated Prime Minister, Siegfried Mureșan, subsequently published the complete list of the Cabinet he will take before Parliament. Three vice prime ministers are proposed, one from each party: Mircea Abrudean (PNL), Radu Miruță (USR), and Tánczos Barna (UDMR). USR also proposes Dan Reșitnec for the position of Government Secretary-General, with ministerial rank.
"Tomorrow, at 11:00, we will submit the governance program and the Government's list to the Romanian Parliament. We are going before Parliament with a clear program for Romania and a team prepared to implement it. Romania needs a stable, responsible Government capable of starting work immediately. We are ready to take on this responsibility and ask for the Parliament's vote of confidence," wrote Mureșan on Friday evening on Facebook.
Governance program and ministerial list submitted on Saturday
Designated Prime Minister Siegfried Mureșan had a meeting with President Nicușor Dan at Cotroceni on Friday at 12:00.
Later, he announced that on Friday, the Cabinet would be presented after the parties supporting it validate their ministerial nominations.
"During this afternoon, the three parties - PNL, USR, and UDMR - will validate their ministers in the statutory bodies, and by the end of the day, we will announce the entire Cabinet of ministers," stated Siegfried Mureșan on Europa FM.
He announced that on Saturday, he would submit the governance program and the composition of the future Cabinet to Parliament.
Mureșan refused to confirm or deny, until then, the names circulating for various ministries.
When asked on G4Media if Mihai Dimian would remain Minister of Education, Mureșan avoided a direct answer, stating that the field of Education was sensitive even before the current minister's mandate and that decisions regarding social scholarships were not made lightly.
"Education was a sensitive field before he became a minister. I am confident that regarding social scholarships, decisions were not made lightly," stated Mureșan.
