First reaction from Russia after Nicușor Dan's victory

Nicușor Dan won the presidential elections in Romania, and a first harsh reaction came from Moscow through the voice of Alexandr Dugin, the extremist philosopher who dictates Vladimir Putin’s foreign policy.

„Macron openly intervened in the elections in Romania, but nobody will comment. The EU is a pure liberal dictatorship. Without a total revolution, Europeans no longer have any chance of regaining their real representation of the people,” wrote Dughin on X’s account attributed to him Sunday night.

European leaders congratulated Nicușor Dan, and he spoke on the phone with President Emmanuel Macron.

We remind you that the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), Andrei Țărnea, stated that during the presidential elections taking place yesterday in Romania, "once again signs of Russia's interference" are visible.

The spokesperson for the Russian MAE, Maria Zaharova, rejected any insinuations that there might be a possibility of Russian interference in the Romanian elections.

France rejected, on Sunday, the totally unfounded accusations regarding the alleged French interference in the presidential elections in Romania, which it says represents "a diversion tactic in the face of real threats of interference targeting Romania" and calls on everyone to show responsibility and respect for Romanian democracy.

"On Telegram and Twitter, there are totally unfounded accusations regarding the alleged French interference in the presidential elections in Romania. France categorically rejects these accusations and calls on everyone to show responsibility and respect for Romanian democracy," the French MAE stated in a post.

Pavel Durov, the founder of the messaging app Telegram, stated on Sunday that he rejected a request from a Western government, which he did not name, "to silence" conservative voices in Romania.

Earlier, during the electoral campaign, Dughin threatened Romania that it would be conquered by Russia if it does not maintain its neutrality.

Nicușor Dan won the presidential elections, including with the help of Romanian votes from Russia (where he received 58.65%).
