The Romanian Ambassador to the United States, Andrei Muraru, denies the statements made by Călin Georgescu, who claimed to have been invited to the inauguration ceremony of President Donald Trump.
He specified that his name is not among the individuals officially invited by the Inaugural Committee and the U.S. Department of State.
"Mr. Călin Georgescu was not invited to the inauguration ceremony, his name is not among the individuals officially invited by the Inaugural Committee and the U.S. Department of State," stated the Romanian ambassador to the U.S., as quoted by Agerpres.
Andrei Muraru announced on Thursday that, as ambassador, he will attend and officially represent Romania at the inauguration ceremony of the new American President Donald Trump, scheduled for Monday, January 20.
''The only official invitations, extended on behalf of President-elect Donald J. Trump, were sent by the Inaugural Committee, through the U.S. Department of State Protocol, exclusively to accredited diplomatic mission chiefs in Washington,'' stated Andrei Muraru in a clarification sent to the media regarding the ceremony schedule.
These invitations ensure the participation of accredited ambassadors in Washington at the following events:
- the MAGA Victory Rally on the evening of Sunday, January 19, at the Capitol One Arena;
- the swearing-in ceremony of the new president and the inaugural address, both at the Capitol, on Monday, January 20;
- also on Monday, the inaugural parade at Blair House, the official guest house of American presidents, and the Liberty Ball at the Walter Washington Conference Center, and on Tuesday, January 21, the national prayer service at the National Cathedral in Washington.
''It is a series of exceptional events and a great honor for me to represent Romania at this historic moment of American democracy,'' Muraru conveyed.
Călin Georgescu recently stated that he was invited to President Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony but declined.
''I received an invitation and declined. I have no reason to go. I go as a dignified person to represent the Romanian people with dignity and honor. You don't go otherwise. I am telling you my position. My position is that the time has come for us not to kneel before anyone. We can only kneel before God. Because God is the father of the Romanian nation, not Rothschild or Soros. Let us be very clear. It is everyone's choice what they believe. I only say what needs to be done and what I believe with all my being, and what the Romanian people believe, as evidenced by the tens of thousands of people on the streets,'' stated Georgescu.
