There was a long and at times heated debate on Thursday evening between Nicușor Dan and George Simion, the two candidates vying to be the next president of Romania.
One of the topics discussed was the houses promised by Simion at 35,000 euros, which he later said were just a campaign stratagem, a marketing promotion.
When asked by Nicușor Dan whether the issue of the 35,000 euro houses was or was not a marketing plan, Simion replied: "Just like your visit to the hairdresser or wherever you went to get a haircut was a marketing plan, of course we try to convey this idea, the fact that it was a marketing plan... doesn't mean that you and your supporters were misinformed that this program should not be implemented. This program, from an urban development perspective, is vital for the future of Romania."
Nicuşor Dan's response came immediately, with the Mayor of Bucharest mocking him: "The difference is that when I go to the hairdresser, tens of thousands of people don't queue up and I don't give false hopes."
