Bulgaria has increased taxes for vehicles using its roads.
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that, starting from April 1st, the amount of TOLL road taxes for freight and passenger vehicles using the public road infrastructure in Bulgaria has been raised.
In addition, starting from May 1st, electronic vignettes for vehicles under 3.5 tons will increase by 10%, as follows:
- 1-week vignette - 15 leva (8 euros);
- 1-month vignette - 30 leva (15 euros);
- 3-month vignette - 54 leva (28 euros);
- 1-year vignette - 97 leva (50 euros)
- Weekend vignette valid from Friday, 12:00 to Sunday, 23:59 - 10 leva (5 euros).
The maximum tax amount applicable to vehicles whose routes cannot be determined through the BGTOLL system will be increased in two stages, by 10% starting from April 1st, and by another 10% starting from September 1st.

Meanwhile, repairs continue at the Friendship Bridge in Giurgiu, which started on July 10, 2024, and only paused during the winter holidays.
After both countries entered the Schengen Area on January 1, 2025, the Government in Sofia introduced temporary border controls with Romania for a period of six months.
