The opposition party Tisza, led by Peter Magyar, could obtain a two-thirds majority in the Hungarian parliamentary elections, according to a projection made by the polling institute Median.
Tisza is expected to win between 138 and 142 seats out of a total of 199, surpassing the threshold of 133 seats necessary to achieve a supermajority, according to a projection by the Median polling institute, cited by Reuters.
The party of Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Fidesz, is projected to obtain between 49 and 55 seats, while the far-right party "Our Homeland" is estimated to also secure around 5-6 seats in Parliament.
A two-thirds majority allows for the amendment of the Constitution and laws, and the Fidesz party has benefited from such majorities for most of the time they have been in power since 2010.
The Median Institute, considered one of the most accurate in Hungary, announced that the projection was based on five opinion polls conducted in February and March, with the participation of five thousand people.
