AUR candidate for the presidential elections, George Simion, voted at Primary School No. 1 in Mogoșoaia, accompanied by former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu.
Both were accompanied by their spouses, Ilinca Simion and Cristela Georgescu. Several supporters of Călin Georgescu were present at the polling station and chanted his name.
They wanted to make statements inside the polling station, as in the first round, but a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs warned them that they were not allowed to do so.
"What is happening today is not voting, it is a confession," managed to say Călin Georgescu, interrupted by the police.
"What you did is not very nice, but it's not a problem," Simion said, and the two left the polling station.
The statements practically moved to the hallway.
"I voted for the Romanian family, where the words mother and father should be sacred, I voted for our country, from here and everywhere, which more than ever needs love, forgiveness, and healing. In the end, I would like us to remember the wise words of our ancestors, who used to say: the more, the better, so let's have many voters and we will be strong," said Georgescu after voting.
However, George Simion spoke more about how he voted against:
"I voted against the injustices done to the Romanian people, I voted against the inequalities and humiliations to which our sisters and brothers have been subjected here, within the current borders and everywhere. I voted against abuses and against poverty, I voted against those who disrespect all of us, but at the same time, I voted for our future, which should be decided only by Romanians, for Romanians, and for Romania."
Police Explanation
The Ilfov County Police Department provided clarifications:
"Around 8:15 AM, after 4 people exercised their right to vote (the Georgescu and Simion families - ed.), in the presence of media representatives, the president of the polling station repeatedly asked the police, who were outside the polling station, to ensure the smooth continuation of the electoral process.
In this regard, the president requested the police to ask the individuals to move outside the polling station to the designated area for press statements and to allow other citizens to enter to express their electoral choice."
The police mention that this measure was established by the president of the polling station and displayed prominently at the entrance of the polling station on Sunday morning, before the voting process started.
