Interim President Ilie Bolojan stated that he will vote for Nicușor Dan in the second round of the presidential elections.
„After analyzing the candidates in the second round, I will vote for Mr. Nicușor Dan as the President of Romania,” said Ilie Bolojan in an interview for Europa Liberă.
The interim president urged Romanian citizens to go out and vote.
"I believe that we have earned a right over these years, with many sacrifices, the right to vote. There are many people who in the first round voted for candidates who did not make it to the second round. I am also in this situation. My message to all Romanians is to go and vote and to vote according to their conscience. However, considering that Romania is currently at an important crossroads and that each person, through their vote, will make history for Romania," Bolojan added.
The interim president stated that Romania needs a president who will unite people, not create divisions.
"The biggest danger for us is to clash, to create rifts. The President of Romania, whoever is elected, will have to bring Romania together," emphasized Bolojan.

Regarding his support for Crin Antonescu, Ilie Bolojan stated that he does not regret it, as it was a choice based on personal trust.
"I have no regrets. It's a matter of commitment that I had. I have known Mr. Antonescu for many years. I trust him in that regard," explained the interim president.
Ilie Bolojan also expressed concern about Romania's future, as a challenging period lies ahead.
"I am worried because we are facing a difficult period and there are combinations of factors that can create problems for us: high deficit, the risk of financing it, the risk of downgrading. Political instability is the second risk because, as you can see, we currently have interim figures everywhere, and it is not good to have interims everywhere. (...) The sooner these problems are resolved, the better for the president. So, we need political stability. It's not easy with seven parties. No coalition can be formed with less than three parties," Bolojan noted.
Will he assume the position of prime minister?
When asked if he would assume the position of prime minister if Nicușor Dan wins the presidential elections, Ilie Bolojan said he is willing to participate seriously in discussions regarding the future parliamentary majority that will form the government, as a representative of the PNL.

"I am willing to engage in a very serious discussion for a stable government. A government means a parliamentary majority to support the prime minister. In our situation after the presidential elections, there must be an understanding with the President of Romania. Regardless of how things look, it should be avoided to have a conflict between a parliamentary majority and the president.
I, as a representative of the PNL, take on the responsibility to participate seriously in discussions. I am not someone to engage in electoral marketing. Here, things need to be handled seriously. If you say something, you must be accountable for what you say," Bolojan emphasized.
Last week, during an electoral debate, Nicușor Dan stated that he wishes for a government supported by the four pro-Western parties, plus minorities, with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
"I want a government that includes the four pro-Western parties, plus national minorities. I want this government to be led by a person who has proven to be able to implement reform, meaning cutting expenses, a person who has shown vision for development, I really want - it's not a surprise - Mr. Bolojan, but I don't want to promise something that is not solely my decision," explained Nicușor Dan.
