Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, freshly reelected as the president of PSD, responded on Saturday to the controversies surrounding his studies, stating that he will present his diplomas publicly.
Ciolacu said that immediately after finishing high school, he started working because his father „kicked him out of the house” and sent him to work.
Marcel Ciolacu was asked to explain how he reconciles the fact that one of his CVs states that he enrolled in a master's program in 2003, while he obtained his bachelor's degree a year later, in 2004.
"I think it wouldn't have been possible if it were true. I can provide you with my high school diploma, I went to Buzău, I truly searched for it, I have a legalized copy from 1986. I completed high school when I finished high school, I got my degree when I felt it was right for my family.
I didn't look at that specific CV, I have all the documents, I can provide them to you. I haven't written books, I haven't plagiarized, I really am a normal person," Marcel Ciolacu stated in response to a question on Saturday.
He recounted that after high school, when he didn't get into college, his father kicked him out of the house.
"I put my family before the decision to finish college. I worked immediately after finishing high school. My father kicked me out of the house. You didn't experience those times. My old man said: 'If you can't get into college, go to work, boy!'. Then I went to the army. Those were different times. That's the truth!
I started a family, I worked, I worked in the private sector... I'm not ashamed of anything at all. But I can't respond to all the made-up news, I can't be humiliated, respond to everyone as they please or whatever they want to invent about me, I'll hold a press conference once, show you everything, end of discussion, that's it! I understand the stakes, I understand the game, I understand whatever you want. I haven't offended anyone and I don't want to be offended," the Prime Minister added.

PSD delegates voted overwhelmingly for Marcel Ciolacu as the party's leader, with a new leadership team that no longer includes Gabriela Firea and Vasile Dîncu, who will be replaced by Daniel Băluţă and Mihai Tudose. Here is the team with which Ciolacu aims to lead the party towards Cotroceni.
Congress participants also validated Ciolacu's candidacy for Cotroceni, a few days after he officially announced his intention to run.
