Marco Materazzi, former teammate of Cristi Chivu at Inter, spoke about the Romanian coach of the „nerazzurri”.
The former central defender expressed his confidence in Cristi Chivu, a coach who has received criticism following Inter’s recent Serie A results.
Materazzi praises Chivu's courage in relying on young players, such as Francesco Pio Esposito.
He also mentioned that the Romanian will mature as a coach over time and gain the necessary experience.
"I expect him to continue his maturation process in the coming years. He comes with a strong background, learned at Ajax, and grew up in Inter's system, in the youth teams, where he won trophies with players he could bring to the first team.
His courage and ideas are welcomed, he is not afraid to rely on young players. This Inter team needs to grow," said Marco Materazzi, as quoted by the Italian press.
Inter defeated Ajax in the Champions League, 2-0, but lost the last two Serie A matches against Torino and Juventus.
