CFR Cluj will enter a new period under Dan Petrescu next summer, when SuperDan will return to the team’s bench at Gruia, with which he won four Romanian championship titles in 5 years.
After the humiliation on Friday evening against Farul Constanța, with a score of 1-5, the railway team clearly suffers in terms of defense, and this will need to be reinforced as a priority in the summer. This is also the belief of Mihai Stoica, the President of the Administrative Council at FCSB, who is already convinced of what will be the first move of the former right-back from Chelsea and the national team.
Stoica says that the first transfer will be the central defender Matias Yuri (29 years old), a player who is currently registered with Neftchi Baku, the former team of Reghecampf or Adi Mutu. The Brazilian still has a contract with the club from Azerbaijan until the summer of 2025.
“I think Petrescu will make efforts to bring Burcă back (n.r. laughs). But I'm sure that if he signs, the first transfer will be Yuri. I dare to bet. I don't know if it will be the first transfer, but I'm sure Yuri will play for CFR starting from the summer if Petrescu returns,” were the words of Mihai Stoica on the Sport Report show on Orange Sport television.
Yuri played for CFR Cluj between February 2022 and July 2023, before being transferred to Neftci for 400,000 euros. The Brazilian was requested by Dan Petrescu at Gruia and brought in from the now-defunct Gaz Metan Mediaș.
