Mircea Lucescu is close to making a return to football and is on the shortlist of a national team that was present at EURO 2024.
Lucescu is among the possible candidates for the position of head coach of Ukraine, according to information released in the press of that country.
"Yes, the Romanian is already 78 years old and is not one of the coaches who will say yes to the first attractive offer. But a position like that of the head coach of the national team, which he knows so well, would certainly be interesting for him," wrote the publication Champion.
In addition to Mircea Lucescu, the list also includes Miron Markevich, Yuri Venidub, Mauro Tassotti, and Gianni de Biasi.
Mircea Lucescu has been a free agent since November 2023, when he parted ways with Dynamo Kiev.
He has a wealth of experience in Ukrainian football, having coached Shakhtar Donetsk from July 2004 to May 2016.
