Romanian forward Louis Munteanu has finally made his mark in MLS, where he transferred last winter to DC United from CFR Cluj for 5 million euros.
The 23-year-old Romanian international scored his first goal on American soil on Saturday night against Sunday, in DC United’s victory over Orlando City, with a score of 3-2.
The forward who left Cluj reopened the path to victory for his team, scoring the equalizing goal of 2-2 in the 84th minute. The winning goal came in the final seconds of the match, in the 90th minute plus 4.
Back from injury, Munteanu was finally fielded against Orlando City, the future team of Antoine Griezmann. Munteanu beautifully shot from outside the box, for a superb goal, to which the opposing goalkeeper had no response. For his performance, the Americans named him the man of the match.
Munteanu, who also received a yellow card last night, has already played 7 matches in the DCU jersey, the first in which he was a starter.
Following this victory, DC United climbed to 10th place with 12 points in the Eastern Conference.
