Fabio Capello sent a direct message to Cristi Chivu (45 years old), the coach of Inter.
The legendary Italian coach warned Chivu not to be „put to sleep” by the statements made by the rivals for the Serie A title.
Capello explained what he meant and highlighted the disadvantage that Inter will have compared to AC Milan and Napoli.
"The championship is not over yet. I heard Antonio Conte saying after the match with Como in the Italian Cup that he doesn't want to talk about the title anymore and that Inter is already 9 points ahead. However, there are still many direct matches to play.
I don't want to insinuate that Inter is not playing well because that's not the case, but there is still a long way to go before we can declare the championship over.
After an elimination like the one suffered by Napoli, I understand that Conte finds it hard to be positive, especially since Inter has shown that they are on the right path, but Cristian Chivu's team must be very careful, especially in direct duels and against the six teams, including Como, fighting for Champions League spots.
However, I believe there is a difference between what Conte said and what he truly believes. Everyone thinks Inter is the favorite, but that's because of the way Inter plays and approaches each match with a lot of quality and maximum focus.
Let's remember that Inter will play in other competitions as well, while Napoli and Milan won't, and this is not just a minor detail," stated Fabio Capello, according to the Italian press.
Inter is leading the Serie A standings with 58 points, while AC Milan and Napoli follow with 50 and 49 points, respectively. The city rival, however, has played one less match.
