Romanian defender Andrei Rațiu, the international player who plays as a right-back in Spain for the first division team Rayo Vallecano, has received praise after several very good matches with the white and red team.
Rațiu, 26 years old, also known as Sonic, is having an excellent season at Rayo Vallecano and manages to be a starter in every match, even after gaining confidence at EURO 2024, with the matches of the Romanian national team.
The Romanian was a key player in Saturday's match, drawn by Rayo against Leganes, with a score of 1-1. After being compared to the great Zidane by the Spanish press, through the newspaper Marca, it was also the turn of coach Borja Jimenez from Leganes to praise Rațiu, explaining that he changed the position of right-back Adrià Altimira to bring him to the left flank and try to block the Romanian:
"I changed the position of Adrià Altimira because I wanted a player who could play with his weaker foot and defend well behind the central midfielders. He has the ability to move inside and defend in front of one of the best full-backs in the league. I'm referring to Rațiu," said Borja Jimenez at the press conference after the match Rayo Vallecano - Leganes 1-1.
After scoring against Osasuna (3-1) and providing an assist in the match against Atletico Madrid (1-1), Andrei Rațiu was praised by Marca, a newspaper that also wrote about the Romanian in laudatory terms: "Rațiu disguises himself as Zidane, gets past two opponents, performs a Zidane-style pirouette, but his shot from the box is blocked by an opponent," wrote the journalists from Marca.
In the standings, Vallecano is in 8th place in La Liga, with 10 points accumulated.
