Researchers are working intensively on the project of the first Romanian drone.
The Minister of Economy and the Minister of Innovation have made new announcements about the prototype being developed at the National Institute for Research and Development in Aerospace „Elie Carafoli.”
"The Romanian drone project is moving forward!
Today, I went together with the Minister of Economy, Ștefan Radu Oprea, to INCAS - the National Institute for Research and Development in Aerospace "Elie Carafoli," which has been managing cutting-edge research projects in aerospace sciences in Romania for over 75 years.
Together, we found solutions for MCID and the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism to build a prototype for the Romanian drone, a fully authentic product of Romanian specialists, from creation, design, to production.
We will use optoelectronic equipment designed by Romanians and innovative Romanian computer systems, all generated by the brilliant minds of Romanian researchers," stated on Facebook Bogdan Ivan, the Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization.
On his part, the Minister of Economy, Ștefan Radu Oprea, states that starting from Thursday, the group of experts will begin working on defining the theme/themes for the research and development of drones.
"There is creativity within research institutions, with INCAS already having developed projects for drone systems. I have seen studies, prototypes, equipment, and functional systems that give me confidence that together with companies in the defense industry with private and state capital, with companies that constantly innovate in the field of software, artificial intelligence, microelectronics, or optoelectronics, the project for the industrialization of Romanian drones can become a reality.
I thank the INCAS team for the collaboration we have for the modernization project of the IAR 99 SM aircraft," added on Facebook Radu Ştefan Oprea.
