The first party to support Nicușor Dan's candidacy for the presidential elections in Romania

The DREPT Party has decided to support Nicușor Dan’s candidacy in the 2025 presidential elections, making available to him its national infrastructure for collecting signatures and campaigning.

DREPT is one of the 3 pro-European parties split from USR that did not enter Parliament in recent elections. If they had run united, they would have passed the threshold, but as it stands, their votes are redistributed.

„Considering Nicușor Dan’s announcement, as well as the reluctance of mainstream parties to support and assist him, the DREPT party provides him with the necessary national infrastructure for collecting signatures and campaigning for the 2025 presidential elections.

We have demonstrated that we have the capacity to collect the necessary signatures, both through members and allies, and that we can support a national campaign both on the ground and online.

Therefore, we offer independent candidate Nicușor Dan all the necessary support, without asking for anything in return.

The DREPT Party has had independent candidates on its lists, non-party members, supporting independent candidate Nicușor Dan for the presidency being a natural decision.

We want this to be the first step towards an alliance to support Nicușor Dan, an alliance that society demands. We also call on all those who want to volunteer in the campaign that will decide Romania's president for the next 5 years," said Vlad Gheorghe, the leader of the DREPT party, in a press release.

Those who wish to support Nicușor Dan's candidacy can sign up as volunteers at https://partiduldrept.ro/voluntarinicusor.

"Experience has shown that volunteers are essential in supporting independent candidates who do not have the millions of euros from the state budget subsidy that mainstream parties have. Nicușor Dan is the only independent candidate who has shown that he can bring together the reformist forces in society, both political parties and NGOs," the statement further reads.

The Mayor of Bucharest, Nicușor Dan, announced on Monday his intention to run independently in the 2025 presidential elections, mentioning that he is open to discussions with pro-European parties.
