Error in strategy. Why was Nicușor Dan or Ilie Bolojan needed in Broșteni

A few months ago, while researching for an article, a person familiar with the Kremlin's modus operandi in hybrid warfare said that Russia takes advantage of and will continue to take advantage of any vulnerability shown by the authorities in Romania to create political crises, social tensions, and economic instability. They will use the client's merchandise with precision, the same person said, and what happened around the tragedy in Suceava County confirms this.
Error in strategy. Why was Nicușor Dan or Ilie Bolojan needed in Broșteni

At the beginning of November 2024, King Felipe of Spain, accompanied by Queen Letizia, visit the Valencia region, the town of Paiporta, to meet with survivors of catastrophic floods that inundated the city, causing significant damage and resulting in over 200 deaths.

The visit was extremely tense, as locals were furious because the government reacted with delay, and certain works in the area exposed the town to floods.

People confronted the king, shouted at him, attempted to approach threateningly, with the scenes filmed at that time being shocking, but truly extraordinary was the monarch’s attitude.

He endured the protests, the shouts, the threats with a rarely seen stoicism and never lost his empathy for the victims. He did not flee from the crowd but heroically tried to talk to the people. He continued to move through the angry crowd, stating that he understood their suffering.

His attitude made headlines around the world, touching public opinion and calming the situation in the area. Following the king's visit, thousands of Spaniards came to help those affected by the disaster.

The above event is in total contradiction with what happened in Broșteni, Suceava, from all points of view. Although the Romanian government reacted swiftly, sending massive intervention forces to the area, providing material, logistical support, food, water, the absence of the president or prime minister created a vacuum of authority quickly filled by Russian propaganda.

The flooding in Broșteni, Suceava, occurred on the night of July 27-28. The first information, reports, and images began to reach the public throughout the day.

The Emergency Situations Inspectorate went on alert, and by July 28, they were already intervening in the area with all available forces, including two SMURD helicopters.

The Clairvoyants from AUR

On that day, neither George Simion nor Călin Georgescu showed any public interest in the floods in Suceava County, or the suffering of the people there. The event had not yet caught the attention of the public.

Simion's first reaction related to the tragedy only came on July 30, two days later, when, from somewhere on vacation, he announced that AUR parliamentarians would donate their allowances to support those affected by the disaster, also stating a lie that local organizations in Suceava and Neamț had been "by the side of the victims for three days."

Simion's post was made at 7:07 p.m., and three days, as he claims in the video, would mean that the local AUR leaders are clairvoyant, knowing about the floods before they occurred.

On July 30, around 2:00 p.m., Călin Georgescu's first reaction, the Russia-backed candidate facing trial for attacking the constitutional order and promoting the Legionary Movement, announced that he would visit the flood-affected area in two days.

The above dates show that all the political promotion, with terrifying cynicism, done by George Simion and Călin Georgescu, taking advantage of the suffering of those affected by the tragedy, was possible because the president and prime minister, who had the public and moral authority to show support for those in distress, were absent.

Perhaps their absence was justified, perhaps they considered that such a visit could be seen as populist, perhaps they avoided turning a tragedy into a political event. All of these, in my opinion, are valid, sensible reasoning and logical decisions in a normal situation. But looking around, Romania is creaking and groaning from all hinges to maintain the appearance of normality.

Russia is pulling all the strings of hybrid warfare towards our country. Simion and Georgescu are being maximized to increase distrust in democracy, economic and social instability, to provoke a series of political crises.

The Small Divorce between Georgescu and Simion

In the context of the elections in Moldova, Romania has become a target on all security levels to discourage any possible assistance from Bucharest to Chișinău, so that the Kremlin can take political control of the neighboring country.

Any vulnerability shown by the Romanian authorities is exploited by Moscow to create instability, and this is why the presence of democratically elected leaders, those with the authority and power to help those struck by disaster, is necessary.

Simion's political strategy is old and based precisely on the principle of cynicism, that of taking advantage of any crisis, any suffering, any tension, to post messages and videos on social media with the sole objective - social chaos.

The good news is that some people have caught on to this strategy and have begun to react to the image scams perpetrated by Simion and Georgescu.

Some understand who truly works and helps, and interventions have not ceased even now.

Another interesting aspect observed during the extremist assault on flood-affected individuals is that Georgescu and Simion are now in different camps.

The split must be understood in the context of the hybrid war waged by Moscow on Romanian territory. Messages of support for Călin Georgescu primarily come from the Kremlin, indicating that he is seen as a potential future leader.

Simion, after the failure in the presidential elections, remains important only from the party's perspective, but Moscow knows that his political mission has ended. Another one in line.
