Prime Minister Ciolacu knows Iohannis's biggest chance for NATO Secretary General

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu argues that President Klaus Iohannis’ greatest chance of becoming NATO Secretary General is that there is no one against him with a negative vote, and there is no leader, decision-maker, to say „Not Klaus Iohannis.”

Marcel Ciolacu states that Iohannis still has a chance to become NATO Secretary General.

"The President's greatest chance is that there is no one against the President of Romania with a negative vote. There is no leader, decision-maker, to say No Klaus Iohannis," Ciolacu said on Wednesday at DCNews.

He mentioned that, as for Mark Rutte, he has already seen such a vote, with Hungary being one of the states that have expressed disagreement.

"I am proud of any Romanian who reaches an important position in the world," added Ciolacu.

On Tuesday, the Americans announced their full support for Mark Rutte for the NATO leadership, showing "the greatest respect" for "friend" Klaus Iohannis. The statement belongs to the U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Julianne Smith.

The United Kingdom's Ambassador to Bucharest, Giles Matthew Portman, also recently reaffirmed his country's position regarding the new NATO leadership. Therefore, London's vote will be cast for Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
