The National Liberal Party states that it is not part of the Veștea Government and does not assume political responsibility for the governance program submitted to Parliament on Sunday by Prime Minister-designate Adrian Veștea.
The reaction comes after Veștea submitted the Cabinet list and the governance program, with several individuals with a liberal profile or members of the PNL appearing on the list of ministers, including Alina Gorghiu, Monica Anisie, Sorin Cîmpeanu, Eduard Mititelu, and Cristian Pistol.
However, the PNL affirms that these nominations were not discussed or approved by the party.
"The National Liberal Party has taken note of the submission to Parliament of the governance program and the list of ministers proposed by Prime Minister-designate Adrian Veștea. We state clearly and unequivocally that the National Liberal Party is not part of this Government and does not assume political responsibility for the proposed governance program.
The individuals on the list of ministers are outside the party and the decisions adopted by the statutory bodies of the PNL. These nominations were not discussed, approved, or supported by the PNL," the PNL said in a statement transmitted on Sunday.
The party's position comes after the extraordinary Congress on Sunday, where the PNL adopted a resolution stating that the participation of party members in the construction of a government with the PSD would lead to their exclusion.
The Liberals recall that the party's line was reaffirmed both by the Congress and the newly elected leadership: the PNL does not support the establishment of a government that includes the PSD, a government supported by the PSD, or a government that does not have a transparent and acknowledged majority in Parliament.
"Under these circumstances, we urge all political actors, media representatives, and opinion makers not to present the Adrian Veștea Government in the public space as a government that includes the National Liberal Party and not to attribute responsibility to the PNL for these proposals," the party stated.
The PNL also states that it will continue to act in Parliament for the necessary reforms in Romania, the absorption of European funds, and measures that contribute to the country's development.
