President Nicușor Dan announced that he will start discussions with the parliamentary parties on Wednesday regarding the formation of the new Government.
“Tomorrow, we have set a schedule, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., an hour and a half each. I spoke with the leaders over the phone and today, the administration team will send the official invitations,” stated Nicușor Dan, to the press present in front of the house where he lives, when asked if he will start negotiations with the parties.
- Grindeanu: My colleagues and I do not exactly know what the new President Nicușor Dan wants
- Nicușor Dan, reply to PSD: You cannot change without changing anything!
“This is the first round of discussions, that's why they are informal. Even if they are organized, they are informal and will continue,” stated the head of state, when asked if he will appoint a PSD prime minister in the scenario where the social democrats will condition holding the position of prime minister to enter the government.
The interim president of the social democrats, Sorin Grindeanu, stated on Monday that PSD will go to the discussions at the Cotroceni Palace regarding the future government with a set of measures and a social-democratic vision.
“I asked my colleagues from the economic sector, from the party, and from the financial sector to prepare a set of measures. With this set of measures, we will go to Cotroceni with concrete proposals and our vision. We will present them to the president and, of course, we will also present them to the other parties interested in our proposals,” stated Grindeanu on Monday in an interview on Antena 1, when asked about the solutions proposed by PSD for reducing the budget deficit.
Discussions on the budget deficit
Furthermore, President Nicușor Dan announced that on Tuesday he will have working meetings with the Minister of European Projects and the Minister of Development to see the real pace of investments, starting from the topic of the budget deficit.
“Throughout today, I will meet with Mr. Boloș, Mr. Cseke, the leadership of AFM, and the leadership of AFIR. The discussion is still on the deficit, (...) because these are the institutions with the longest list of investments.
Let's see what the real pace of investments is. Just like with us, at the Capital City Hall, people are optimistic and say they will do all these things. Usually, there are delays or even projects that don't start,” stated Nicușor Dan.
