Nicușor Dan and PSD, the major losers in Parliament. The designated Prime Minister has collapsed

In a surprising move, AUR left the social democrats with a bitter taste, collectively leaving the Legislature, even though Sorin Grindeanu and Adrian Veștea had negotiated to receive dozens of votes from the extremist party.

Marian Neacșu put on Hrebenciuc’s jacket and thought it was enough to negotiate a majority in favor of a liberal pulled out overnight from Nicușor Dan’s hat, the President of Romania.

But Romania has changed a lot since the era of Viorel Hrebenciuc, who negotiated majorities from his office at the Palace of the Parliament to pass laws, to appoint Constitutional Court judges, People’s Advocates, and other positions that required a vote in the Legislature.

Marian Neacșu, former Secretary-General of the Bolojan Government, representing the PSD, the one who announced, with great importance, the resignation of the social democrats from the Executive, triggering the political crisis, actually led and failed the negotiations at Vila Lac, causing an existential crisis in the PSD.

Sorin Grindeanu, when he created that circus by consulting leaders from the field, launching a media bombardment aimed at the political destruction of Ilie Bolojan, in reality, triggered a series of events that compromised his leadership mandate.

CHAOS IN PSD. Sorin Grindeanu's mandate as leader of the PSD is catastrophic. Wrong decisions, lack of accountability, and the loss of public support are just a few of the visible effects that show a party in disarray - Photo: Codrin Unici/ Inquam Photos

All decisions made, strategies devised were catastrophic for the PSD, a party that has reached public support below 15%.

Out of desperation to find a salvation solution, the state-party founded by Ion Iliescu entered into the most dubious and strange combinations to maintain its institutional influence.

In the end, Sorin Grindeanu found out that his power and that of the party had evaporated.

Marian Neacșu bet that he would bring, through Mohammad Murad, AUR deputy, a number of votes from the formation led by George Simion, but the operation failed, with the social democrats being left offside in the middle of the plenary session, where the investiture vote was to take place.

After Adrian Veștea's failure yesterday, Romania enters the logic of early elections, with the president having 60 days to resolve the government crisis.

After this deadline expires and with another designated prime minister rejected by Parliament, the Legislature can be dissolved.

Because there are few chances to reach such a situation, it is very likely that the next designation will receive the vote of the Legislature, but nothing is certain.

Conspiracy

Nicușor Dan is a second political actor, after the PSD, strongly affected by the rejection of the Veștea Government.

The president conspired to destroy a political party by appointing a candidate for the position of prime minister without consulting the respective party.

This accusation was voiced by several liberals and was repeated and widely distributed on social networks.

Although he did not violate any law or constitutional provision, the fact that he appointed Adrian Veștea, a member of the PNL leadership, over the head of the party's official leader can only be interpreted as a low blow, with the aim of destroying the liberal party.

The traitorous government did not obtain the vote of Parliament even after the designated prime minister humiliated himself in front of AUR, in a desperate attempt to gain the support of this party. The National Liberal Party did not vote for the PSD-Veștea government and announced that they will no longer govern with the PSD. The government rejected by Parliament was controlled by the PSD, with Adrian Veștea being just a puppet of the PSD...

Dan Motreanu, First Vice President of the PNL

If we add to this the legal attack on the party through the challenge at the Ilfov Tribunal, as well as the attack on some leaders, such as the summons of Ciprian Ciucu to the DNA, the supreme court's decision against Dominic Fritz, the leader of the USR, the party in alliance with the PNL, a more complete picture of a "political conspiracy" is created with the aim of causing a rift among the political parties that have announced they will no longer govern alongside the PSD.

The Mathematician President Calculated Wrong

The situation of the president, following the failure recorded by Veștea in Parliament, has become difficult. Without public support, but also without political support, his isolation at the Cotroceni Palace is complete.

It is hard to understand how Nicușor Dan managed in a year to break all collaboration bridges with the PNL and USR, to allow himself to be manipulated by the PSD, and to flirt with AUR.

All this happened while, at the beginning of his mandate, he spoke about the extremist danger, about red lines, and about Romania's pro-Western orientation.

Veștea's collapse in Parliament is good news for Ilie Bolojan, who will thus manage to get rid of the "uselist" parliamentarians, but also to reject the hostile takeover attempt of the PNL by the President of Romania.

Another winner of the designated prime minister's failure is George Simion, who has reaffirmed the extremist formation's anti-PSD position, but also the party's unity around the leader, a unity that was strongly contested following PSD's attempt to garner votes for the validation of the Veștea Government.

President Nicușor Dan is expected to make a new designation that will bring Romania even closer to early elections or will end the government crisis, at least for a few months.
