Romania is preparing for the first heatwave episode of this summer, as a very warm air mass of African origin, already affecting Western Europe, will also reach our country by the end of the week.
Temperatures will gradually rise in the following days, with the highest values expected on Sunday and at the beginning of next week. According to the General Director of the National Meteorological Administration (ANM), Elena Mateescu, maximum temperatures will locally reach 35-36 degrees Celsius.
### Banat and Crișana, the hottest areas
The first signs of the heatwave will be felt as early as Saturday, when temperatures will rise to 34 degrees in the western and southwestern parts of the country.
„The end of this week will bring temperatures in our country close to a heatwave day, starting from Saturday we will have 34 degrees Celsius in the western and southwestern parts of the country, and Sunday will bring values of up to 35-36 degrees Celsius,” stated Elena Mateescu to [Digi24](https://www.digi24.ro/meteo/primul-episod-de-caldura-extrema-loveste-romania-cum-va-fi-vremea-pe-litoral-date-de-ultima-ora-de-la-sefa-anm-3820811).
According to the head of ANM, the highest temperatures are expected in Banat and Crișana, as well as in western Oltenia.
„Values will rise to 35-36 degrees, with the highest expected in Banat and Crișana, but we do not exclude high temperatures in western Oltenia as well,” she specified.
### Over 30 degrees in Bucharest
In the capital, the beginning of next week will bring temperatures of 31-32 degrees Celsius, while in the southern part of the country, maximum temperatures could reach 33-34 degrees.
Meteorologists estimate that the weather will become increasingly warmer in most regions as the tropical air mass advances towards the eastern part of the continent.

### Beach weather on the coast
Temperatures will also rise on the coast in the following days. While by the end of the week, maximum temperatures will be around 20-22 degrees, the beginning of next week will bring authentic summer weather.
According to ANM, temperatures of 26-28 degrees Celsius are expected on the coast, and the sea water will be around 19-20 degrees.

### Heatwave follows a few days of instability
Before the heatwave sets in, meteorologists warn that several regions of the country will be affected by atmospheric instability.
Showers are expected to accumulate locally between 5 and 15 liters of water per square meter, as well as wind intensifications with gusts of 45-55 km/h in Oltenia, Muntenia, and Dobrogea. Similar phenomena may occur locally in Transylvania and in the southern part of Banat as well.
