Romania braces for a month of heat: ANM warns of above-normal temperatures and scarce rainfall. The hardest-hit areas

Romania is preparing for four weeks with above-normal temperatures and increasingly less precipitation, according to the new long-term forecast published on Tuesday by the National Meteorology Administration.

Meteorologists warn that the beginning of summer will bring episodes of persistent heat across almost the entire country, especially in the west, while drought will intensify in several regions.

The ANM estimate is valid for the period May 25 – June 22 and indicates a weather pattern dominated by high temperatures and a lack of precipitation almost week by week.

### Prima săptămână vine cu temperaturi peste normal în toată țara

In the period May 25 – June 1, temperatures will exceed the usual averages for this time of year in all regions, with the highest deviations in the western part of the country.

At the same time, rainfall will be less than normal nationwide, meaning that the beginning of summer already comes with a significant water deficit in the soil after several months marked by strong weather fluctuations.

### Căldura continuă și în iunie

According to the ANM, the beginning of June does not bring a significant change in weather. In the period June 1 – 8, temperatures will remain above the specific averages for the period in all regions of the country.

The rainfall regime will be reduced especially in the southwest and locally in the west, while in the rest of the country, precipitation amounts will approach the normal for the period.

Meteorologists estimate that the warm weather will continue in the period June 8 – 15, when average temperatures will remain slightly above normal, especially in the western half of the country.

### Vestul țării, cel mai afectat de secetă

The last week analyzed by the ANM, June 15 – 22, maintains the same picture: temperatures above climatological averages and deficient precipitation in most of the country.

The most affected regions will be the west, north, and center of the country, as well as some areas in the southwest, where rainfall will continue to be below normal for this period.

The forecast comes in a context where meteorologists have already warned that the summer of 2026 could start with early episodes of heatwaves and prolonged periods of drought, after a year that began with strong temperature contrasts and extreme phenomena.
