A Fresh Contender: eYou Social Enters the Social Media Arena Against Facebook and TikTok

The European social media platform eYou, which verifies the truthfulness of posts in real time, has been officially launched for the public.

eYou Social (eYou) aims to be a European alternative to traditional social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok.

eYou was founded by two French entrepreneurs, Jasseem Allybokus and Grégoire Vigroux, who have been based in Romania for over a decade, but the platform is open to users worldwide.

The network has reached 50,000 registered users since the pre-launch period.

eYou combines real-time fact-checking, transparent algorithms, and user-controlled feeds with the aim of rebuilding trust in online conversations.

Starting today, the platform is available on iOS and Android, and the first users retain their "Early Believer" status, recognizing their role as founding members of the community.

Although initial users are mainly from Romania (where both co-founders are based), the United States has become the second-largest market, representing 19% of the user base, followed by Sweden, indicating strong international demand beyond Europe.

New data shows that users feel manipulated, misinformed, and captive

To mark the launch, eYou conducted a survey of 370 respondents in 2025, during the platform's development, which analyzed consumer trust and behavior on platforms.

The results highlight an increasing crisis of trust in existing platforms:
• 89% of users say they encounter fake news or misinformation on social networks
• 77% say they feel manipulated by the content they see on social networks
• 93% believe algorithms keep them captive in filter bubbles, showing them content they already agree with
• 85% say platforms prioritize profit maximization over user well-being
• 75% say platforms prioritize creating addiction over user well-being
• 97% say platforms do not prioritize truth or accuracy
• 63% believe the quality of content on social networks is declining
• 67% are concerned that existing platforms are governed by US or Chinese laws
• 59% do not believe their data is safe on the platforms they use
• 27% describe themselves as "dependent" on social networks, with 13% spending over 4 hours a day, and 47% spending between 1-2 hours a day

Respondents reported using a variety of platforms at least once a month, with over 80% active on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and most also using TikTok and X.

This shows that users are increasingly present on multiple platforms at the same time.

The survey results are based on a study conducted in 2025, with 370 respondents selected from a sample of 1,000 people, mostly from Europe.

"People no longer trust what they see online. Social networks have become an essential part of how we live and understand the world, but users feel manipulated and misinformed, and our research shows that people want change. Social networks are entering a new era, one that no longer seeks to capture attention at any cost, but is based on trust, transparency, and returning control to the user," says Grégoire Vigroux, co-founder.

A new model for social networks

eYou aims to address these concerns by rethinking the fundamentals of social networks. The platform integrates real-time fact-checking directly into the feed, transparent and editable algorithms, and users can modify their own content flow settings to maintain control over the algorithm, reducing the risk of misinformation and the emergence of "filter bubbles" (echo chambers).

Born in Romania, eYou is built around data protection and user experience, integrating fact-checking technologies based on artificial intelligence and a content flow architecture designed to reduce polarization and limit algorithmic bubbles.
