Romanians invest more than 21 billion lei in Fidelis government bonds, a historic record

Romanians have invested over 21 billion lei this year in the Fidelis program, a record level since the launch of government securities for the population, announced the Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare.

According to him, the most sought after was the 10-year euro issuance, a sign that more and more investors prefer stability and predictable long-term returns.

Alexandru Nazare stated on Tuesday that Fidelis has become "a solid saving option for Romanians," and that 2025 is "the best year in the program's history." He emphasized that the last edition of this year, held between December 5 and 12, attracted nearly 1.5 billion lei, confirming the population's confidence in government securities.

The Minister of Finance pointed out that, in total, in the 11 editions of Fidelis carried out in 2025, Romanians have invested over 21 billion lei, which represents a historic record for the program.

A distinct role within the program was played by blood donors, for whom Fidelis includes special tranches with more advantageous interest rates and a reduced minimum investment threshold. Alexandru Nazare stated that, in 2025, donor-investors placed over 1.77 billion lei, demonstrating that the program manages to link social solidarity with saving, while also providing significant support to the healthcare system.

The Minister also mentioned that the results so far show that more and more Romanians choose to be indirectly "shareholders of the Romanian state," investing in government securities and thus expressing their confidence in the state's ability to offer secure saving instruments.

He added that Fidelis has the potential to attract even more long-term investors and that he wishes for the program to become increasingly relevant for Romanians in the diaspora, who are seeking safe ways to invest in Romania. "Romania deserves all our trust," concluded Minister Alexandru Nazare.
