Bolojan highlights a drop in the deficit and a surge in VAT revenues. October was the best month of 2025

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated in a post published on Facebook on Thursday that the budget execution for the first ten months of the year shows „a decrease in the deficit and a constant increase in VAT revenues.”

The Head of Government argues that the trend „confirms more efficient collection” and a solid pace of state revenues.

According to the data presented, the budget deficit reached 5.72% in October, compared to 6.22% in the same period last year. "The 0.5% decrease represents half a billion lei," Bolojan pointed out.

The revenues of the consolidated general budget totaled 531.55 billion lei in the first ten months of 2025, up by 12.3% compared to the previous year. "We collect more because we manage to collect better," emphasized the Prime Minister.

The largest increases came from VAT, where net collections grew by 9.2% year-on-year, reaching 108.38 billion lei in the January-October period.

The graph published by Bolojan shows an upward trend since the beginning of the year and a peak in October, when the state collected 13.6 billion lei from VAT - the highest level in 2025.

The Prime Minister stated that the positive evolution of VAT revenues confirms the effect of digitalization measures and improved controls, stating that "the growth trend continues every month."
