Four surprise names for the national team rebuild. Who could lead the way to the future of the final tournament

The Romanian national team is obliged to start from scratch, after another failure to qualify for a World Cup, from which we have been absent since 1998.

Most likely, after Tuesday evening when the current coach Mircea Lucescu will end his mandate, Gheorghe Hagi will take his place, who needs to rebuild Romanian football, almost from scratch, perhaps even around his academy that he built in Ovidiu.

Until then, Mihai Pintilii, former assistant coach at FCSB, suggests some names of young players who can perform at a high level and can move up from the youth team to the senior team.

These are Andrei Borza, Cătălin Vulturar, David Matei, and Lorenzo Biliboc, players that the former midfielder from Steaua and the national team has spoken about.

Borza and Vulturar play for Rapid, Biliboc is a great talent recently discovered by Pancu at CFR, while Matei is a player from Universitatea Craiova.

"I say Borza, Vulturar from Rapid. David Matei could, but he is still young. Borza could handle it. He has proven it. Vulturar is on an upward trajectory, growing nicely. If he maintains this pace, I believe he will become an important player. Biliboc could be," said Pintilii in an interview on Prima Sport television.

The Romanian youth national team recently won in Kosovo in the EURO 2027 qualifiers, with a score of 1-0, our team being in 3rd place in group A, 8 points behind Spain and 3 points behind Finland.

Next up for the Romanian U21 national team is a match against San Marino on March 31, also in the European Championship qualifiers.
