The state borrowed 3.7 billion lei from the population in one month. We will have a new record in 2025

The Romanian state borrowed from the population, through the most recent monthly sessions concluded under the Fidelis and Tezaur programs, around 3.7 billion lei.

The total amount borrowed from the beginning of the year until now has reached 34.5 billion lei, according to calculations by Profit.ro, surpassing last year’s level of 32.7 billion lei.

A new record for borrowing from the population is thus emerging this year, considering that the amount raised last year, now surpassed, was an annual record.

The Ministry of Finance aims to attract 45 billion lei this year through Fidelis and Tezaur, representing 19.4% of the state's total borrowing plan for this year (the borrowing requirement will, however, be revised at the rectification).

For comparison, last year, the population provided 13% of what the state borrowed.

According to Profit.ro information, through Tezaur, government bonds worth 20.6 billion lei have been sold to the population so far. Within the Tezaur program, the population can invest in government bonds at the State Treasury, Post Offices, and through the Ghișeul.ro platform.

Through Fidelis, the population credited the state with 13.89 billion lei this year. Fidelis offers the opportunity to subscribe to bonds listed on the stock exchange.
